The Road Less Traveled
If you’re just headed out for a drive, consider one of these beautiful scenic routes. We know that sometimes you need to escape the city traffic and just head for the open road.
Farm to Market Road 1323
Head out to Enchanted Rock through Johnson City. In the Spring, fantastic Texas wildflowers will line the path. In the Fall, colorful leaves delight you trip. And along the way, check out the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, Texas White House, and Boyhood home of Lyndon B. Johnson. Check the website for visiting hours and current safety information.
City Park Road
For unparalleled views, drive west on RM2222 past Loop 360. Then, turn left of City Park Road. This route takes you along a ridge that provides scenic Hill Country on one side and beautiful glimpses of the city on the other. You’ll end at Emma Long Metropolitan Park on the shores of Lake Austin.
Fitzhugh Road
Rather than take Highway 290 West into Dripping Springs, take a turn onto Fitzhugh Road. After about 16 miles, if you turn right onto 6026, this route takes you to Pedernales Falls State Park. With over 5000 acres to explore, and six miles of river front, it’s the perfect place for a classic picnic or day outing … or camping in your classic camper van.
